Getting On The Green
The Black Mountain Golf & Country Club originally only had and 18 hole layout but in 2004 new nines where put in making for a grand total of 27 holes on the course. As well, a special tip. The fifth plays downwind and downhill but make sure to avoid the bunker which protects the shallow green. The treeless and sweeping downhill makes up the ninth. The ninth favors shorter hitters and conservative players, so aggressive players ease off as there are hidden moguls surrounded by pot bunkering and bordered by the driving range.
The Black Mountain Golf & Country Club has a history of hosting local qualifiers for the US Open, Pub Links, and Mid Amateur. Black Mountain’s version of “Amen Corner” is probably the biggest challenge of any golfer. The rougher greens on the course include the 397 yd 10th, the 430 yd 11th, and the 188 yd 12th (rated the most difficult of the course).
