Liberace Museum
When you visit Las Vegas you will be taken aback by all of the glitter – that’s not just on the Strip! Take your Las Vegas car rental to the Liberace Museum where you will see some of this famous pianist’s amazing jewellery, rare antiques, lavish wardrobe, one of a kind pianos and his custom car collection. You will be awe-struck by the outstanding collections once owned by “Mr. Showmanship” himself. The non-profit Museum supports the work of The Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts, which has funded scholarships for the arts since 1976. The Liberace Foundation has funded over 100 schools, universities and organizations with scholarship grants. Visitors arriving in Las Vegas car rentals can tour The Liberace Museum’s two buildings: in Building One, you will find the piano and car galleries and in Building Two you can view the costume and jewellery collections, a re-creation of Liberace’s Palm Springs bedroom, and the awards gallery. There is also a Grand Gallery that showcases various exhibitions that are continually changing.
One Of A Kind Pianos
Not only were Liberace’s shows about listening to his great musical talent, but they were also about the breathtaking pianos. Visitors arriving in their Las Vegas car rentals will have the opportunity to view eighteen rare and antique pianos displayed in the Piano Gallery. Among the collection displayed is a rhinestone-encrusted Baldwin grand. A must-see is the astounding concert grand that is completely covered in glistening mirror squares, which also happened to be the favorite piano of the late great Liberace. Also part of this massive collection is an exquisite hand-painted Pleyel and a Chickering grand once owned by George Gershwin.
The Spectacular Wardrobe
One of the first things that come to mind when the name “Liberace” is mentioned, is the image of some of the most outrageous outfits ever made and worn! Everything about Liberace was about taking things to the extreme and this includes his marvelous costumes and extravagant jewellery. In this section of the Museum you will see Liberace’s amazing rhinestone-lined, full-length black diamond mink cape, a 200 pound “King Neptune” costume, along with the infamous red, white and blue hot pants suit. Even brighter than his smile, was his remarkable stage jewellery! In this display, customers of Las Vegas car rentals will see Liberace’s trademark candelabra ring, complete with platinum “candlesticks” and diamond “flames”. Other fabulous pieces include a dazzling white and yellow gold piano-shaped ring, complete with 260 individually set diamonds, as well Liberace’s spectacular piano-shaped wristwatch, paved in a glittering collection of diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
A Ride To Remember
Las Vegas car rentals are much more practical than the elaborate automobiles that made Liberace’s entrances and exits so memorable. At the Museum, you will be astonished by the unique cars owned by Liberace. Some of the more striking vehicles include the famous “Stars and Stripes”, a hand-painted red, white and blue Rolls-Royce convertible. You will amazed at the intricacy of the mirrored Rolls-Royce that is etched with a custom design of galloping horses. Another guaranteed eye-catcher is the Roadster covered in Austrian rhinestones. You will have to see it to believe it!
Liberace’s Palm Spring Bedroom
You will feel like you have stepped back in time when you tour the replica of the master bedroom from “The Cloisters”, Liberace’s Palm Springs estate. Among the landmarks: an antique Louis XV desk from Russia’s Czar Nicholas II as well as examples of Liberace’s Moser crystal.
Before drivers of Las Vegas car rentals leave from the Liberace Museum, be sure to visit the Museum Store and Cafe. The store offers Liberace’s music, along with a selection of music related books, giftware, stationery and jewellery. You will surely want to take something back with you to remember this experience!
